MIND OF THE CITY DOCU-SERIES
The world is changing at a rapid pace, new technologies are emerging, a new generation is beginning to lead the way forward, and more opportunities are available to us now, than ever before. However, our communities continue to face the same problems that have been called out for decades - and the tools that have been designed to bring us together, find a generation growing lonelier, more frustrated, and less sure of what the future holds for them.
Recognizing the power that music and its creators have on the rising generations, as well as the power it has to impact our mood and mental health, in “Mind Of The City” we see how the two come together to illustrate our lives, provide a key to sustainable community funding, and inspire a creative generation to place the power to create change, in their own hands.
The filming of “Mind Of The City” will be led by Artemus Jenkins, an Atlanta-based filmmaker and photographer who creates compelling stories by documenting contemporary art and lifestyle.
The format for "Mind Of The City" will be similar to that of "Heart Of The City" a documentary created by Artemus, and an homage to shows like Video Music Box and Yo MTV Raps, which promote the discovery of new artists and their culture through music & journalism.
The series seeks to convey that mental health is directly impacted by the socio-economic and political climate of our environment. It aims to empower viewers to develop systems that help save ourselves, highlighting the power of music and entertainment in driving change. It promotes mental health awareness, access, and resources, emphasizing that we are not alone, and there are resources to help us heal.
Through this docu-series, viewers will be inspired to create change in their communities, understand the creative process of artists, learn that we're all fighting a battle, and see how art can be used to change the world. This is a series designed to inspire a generation of change-makers, in a way that they can identify with personally.
The primary audience for this docu-series will span multiple generations, but focus heavily on Millennial & Gen-Z (18-45) communities of African descent, living in major urban cities.
